CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — A retired electrician and World War II veteran is the winner of the largest lottery jackpot ever won in Missouri.
Eighty-four-year-old Jim Wilson II came forward Monday to claim the $254 million Powerball jackpot from last Wednesday’s drawing.
Wilson, his wife Shirley and their three sons have been buying family Powerball tickets for years with the understanding that they’d share any winnings with each other. All are from the St. Louis area.
It’s the largest prize in the Missouri Lottery’s 21-year history and the seventh-largest Powerball jackpot ever.

It reminds me of the Alanis Morrisette song “Ironic” – ‘won the lottery and died the next day’ – although I’m not wishing our vet here death, how possibly can he find ways of spending allllllll that money.

I know the Wilson Family. They are GREAT people. I dated Bill and I hope that this money finally makes him happy. Not many people can say they dated a millionaire. LOL

Jim Wilson who was the winner will always be a winner in my heart. He served our country and was wounded in the face (look close and you can tell) and the man got back up and flew again. Jim will probably donate alot to the VFW. He’s an avid VFW and donated alot of time for memorials for our servicemen. He recently had to stop, but they are in his heart. The sons??? I know that Jim the 3rd’ wife has a brother who is blind with 5 kids. So I am sure the kids will be taken care of now. Alot of good will be done with all that dough.
