Using Your Lightsaber Around the Home

11 05 2007

Check out this very informative post on HOW STUFF WORKS about everyday & new uses for your lightsaber.

My personal favorite is surely cutting bagels. . . .

The big advantage of using a lightsaber, of course, is that you can both cut and toast the bagel in one stroke.

A Blissful Weekend of Nothingness

29 04 2007

We did nothing.  All Weekend.  And it was glorious.

Instead of a weekend slaving outdoors fixing the garden in a pre May 2/4 weekend gafaw – we stayed indoors put on the air conditioning unit and made meal after meal of KD mac & cheese.

Pajamas the uniform of the weekend, and ripped movies the entertainment.

Long lie ins, short naps and early to beds.

Some times you just need a referesher weekend.   I could have used another day to sloth about though.

Only 6 more sleeps till we can do it again . . . .

Friday the 13th

13 04 2007

Have a great Friday the 13th. . .  . .best of luck to everyone ;)

Kitty on the Keys

17 03 2007

Colin and I went on a date night tonight.  We went to Montana’s for some steak for dinner, and off to the movies to see the new Frank Miller movie ’300′.  Totally not my cup of tea, and I’ve made it very clear to Colin he totally owes me a chick flick after sitting through all 2 hours of that movie.

In short the movie is about a war between the Spartans and the Persians. . .  .and thats pretty much it, battle scene after battle scene after battle scene.  I don’t mind the occassional battle scene, but when thats it, well – not my cup of tea.

Before we left the house we just couldn’t find the car keys.  We searched in all the usual places.  Marty and Minou watched in amusement from the front windows, Manny watched us from the front hallway stairs.  We were convinced we just wouldn’t find them, and that date night was a bust.

Then my mischievious little tuxedo thought he should be cute and roll over the stairs with his head cocked upside down, there underneath his 8lb frame were the car keys.

I swear I could see a little grin of satifaction on this face.

little bugger.

Date night was saved.

Casino Royally Ticked Off! New Bond Film & Nudity Talk ::: Daniel Craig

13 03 2007

With the release of CASINO ROYALE on DVD, I am a still sad sad girl tonight! My husband brought to my attention the below linked and cited article from the website Dark Horizons. Apparently my lovely tanned and toned Bond, Mr Craig, wants to limit his nudity in the upcoming un named Bond project 22, he wants people to appreicate his acting skills and not just consider him a piece of flesh.

I suppose I can understand where he is coming from, but not everyone in this world has the chisled and sculpted pieces of flesh that he does.  I think its like art, it takes a deserning eye to appreciate its fine lines.  In this case, I am said deserning eye, and my deserning eye will be well disapointed without some eye candy in the next film.  I’m actually considering not bothering to go see it . . .  .

I spoke about that shot in my personal review of the movie. . . that shot was part of the reason I’m enamoured once again with Bond. xoxox <3.  Daniel Craig embodies (litteratly) everything our Mr Flemming set out for Bond to be.   Why mess with a perfect combination.

Daniel didn’t have an issue with nudity in layer cake. . .as seen below (I covered his pee pee for modesty, this is of course a family friendly blog ;) ) If you search “Daniel Craig” in Google Images, you can see the unaltered verision if you so choose.

So in the spirit of the possibility of never getting to see Daniel Craig in various states of undress, here are some pictures. . .

New Bond Villain & Nudity Talk

James Bond’s now infamous walk out of the surf in blue speedos in “Casino Royale” has already gone down in pop culture history – thanks mostly to the first on-set photos which splashed across hundreds of magazines and websites, to the marketing trailers which emphasized it to bring a wider audience into the theatre.

For all its quality filmmaking, its Daniel Craig’s bulging muscles filling those little Italian La Perla shorts can definitely be cited as one of the film’s strong selling points for getting them in. One person however isn’t comfortable in repeating that idea – Daniel Craig himself.

According to a report on WENN via MI6, Craig has told film bosses to cover him up so that the focus is more on his acting talent, rather than his appearance. A source says “Daniel was a little uncomfortable at the amount of nudity he had to do. He appreciated that a lot of it was to win over the female fans but it’s not something he wants to make a habit of, no matter how good he looks in his trunks“.

In other “Bond 22″ related news, former running candidate for the role Goran Visnjic – who reportedly just quit TV’s “ER” this week, has late 2007/early 2008 booked for a massive project. That project? Bond potentially.

According to a Croatian newspaper via MI6, it seems that when auditioning for Bond in Casino Royale, he impressed the EON people so much (he was turned down then for being too young apparently) that he’s won the role of Vesper Lynd’s French-Algerian former love interest mentioned in ‘Royale’. It also claims that his role will be “sizable, menacing and significant to the plot”.

My other James Bond / Daniel Craig / Casino Royale entry

Matthew

13 03 2007

When I worked at A&P, the Manager Mr A wasn’t really keen on having people with disabilities working in the store. He was an old fashioned man, with old fashioned ideals, and very much stuck in his ways.

He did eventually agree to hire a chap named Matthew. He attendened the special needs school at EC Drury. He looked ‘normal’ which was probably part of the reason Mr A allowed him to come and work for us.

Matthew was very much a creature of habit. He needed a routine to follow. Most of the people at the store couldn’t spare the time to talk to Matthew, as he was pretty simple with the things he liked to discuss. I always made sure I had 10 minutes or so during every shift available to talk to Matthew. Usually we talked about movies, he loves movies. I can still name his favourite – Blazing Saddles. He would tell me every time we talked that it was his favourite.

Its been years since either Matthew or I have worked together, and years since I lived in town, but still every time I see him at the local WalMart (where he works now) He always says hi and calls me by name. I think because I devoted that time to talk to him he remembers me, even out of the context in which we knew each other.

Now when I make my trips to WalMart I always make sure I have an extra 10 minutes if I run into Matthew. Usually we talk about movies. . . his favourite is Blazing Saddles. . . . .

PET PEEVE: Asthma in the movies

21 11 2006

The character in “James Bond: Casnio Royale” called ‘Le Chiffre’ used an asthma inhaler several times in the film.

le chiffre

I, as a life long sufferer of asthma, get a might ticked off with how people take the medicine in films. It is one of my biggest pet-hates in films. Its always WRONG!

My Girl and Signs (Ironically enough, both with Culkin brothers in them) were some of the worst movies for incorrectly taking an inhaler.

In order for fast acting inhalers to work, well, FAST – you need to open up your constricted airways and lungs so that the medicine can get to those areas quickly to stop an asthma attack. This can be done by starting a long slow inhale before squriting the inhaler. You should depress the inhaler mid-inhale.

You should basically feel the spray traveling to your lungs, relief should almost be INSTANT.

Becky, Geoff’s wife, is a lab tech and she says she shudders when CSI or other like shows are on, because they never follow protocol (such as gloves, glasses and hairnets on at all time in the lab).

Inhalers in films/TV are to me, what CSI is to Becky. . . .

Dealt a Great Hand: Casino Royale & Date Night

21 11 2006

***Update ***March 12 2007 : Casino Royale is released on VIDEO & DVD this week

***Update*** March 12th 2007 : Daniel Craig talks about Nudity in the new un named James Bond 22, read my thoughts, including PICTURES : http://joeymoggie.wordpress.com/2007/03/13/casino-royally-ticked-off-new-bond-film-nudity-talk-daniel-craig/

***Original Entry*** November 21 2006 : So last night Colin and I re-hatched “Date Night”. We haven’t been to a movie in eons, or at least it felt like eons . . . . . It felt really good to go out with Colin and just chat. Work keeps us both so busy, that sometimes we forget to sit back, take a deep breath, shut off the cell phones and Blackberrys and just live. I’m hoping date night becomes a weekly event again.

We went to Montanas for ribs, and then to the movies to see the new James Bond film “Casino Royale”.

My Thoughts on the film.

  • NEY – 2.5 hours, it was “Waterworld” long
  • NEY – Too much darn card playing, (I know, I know, its called ‘Casnio Royale)
  • NEY – The villian, “Le Chiffre” and his demise
  • NEY – The Asthma inhaler. (I’m actually going to make a seperate Blog about this)
  • YEAH – Daniel Craig (I’ll comes back to this one)
  • YEAH – Some great diaolouge scenes (Bond with Vespa in the train in CLASSIC!
  • YEAH – Opening action sequence rocked. Lots of “parcour” (or however you spell it)
  • YEAH – Not overly “Bond Cheesy”, although I have to say I did enjoy when the lines got used. . . . . .
  • YEAH – Astin Martins.
  • YEAH – Daniel Craig. Did I mention him?

Ok, Let me talk for a moment about Daniel Craig. Adore him. Colin and I discussed him at great lengths on the car ride home. And in the simpliest of terms, I am extremely attracted to him as Bond.

I was watching “Ebert and Roper” and they said that Daniel Craig’s protrayal of Bond is the closest ever to Ian Flemming’s novel. If thats the case, I might have to pick up a copy of the book!

He is chisled (oh is he chisled), looks smashing in the tux and boy can that guy order a martini. His gorgeous bright and deep blue eyes, and the glint in his eyes as the corners of his mouth form a mischevious grin.

Every man who has donned the dinner jacket embodies this character differently – like Pierece Brosnen who in my opinion was debbonair Bond (snotty and eliteist) – I didn’t enjoy or really like his take on Bond.

Up to now, I’ve always like Sean Connery as Bond. . . . . .

Perhaps I like the “bad boy” Bonds. The rough around the edges, sharp wittied, inner romantic kinda Bond.

Back to Daniel Craig, for the ladies there are several shots of his well oiled, tanned and ripped stomach, as well as a very satifying “crotch shot” when he is in a bathing suit close to the end of the film. Lets just say with a body like that, you wouldn’t be kicking him out of the bed for eating crackers. . . .

All in all. Good action scenes for the guys, Enough of Daniel Craig in various states of undress for the ladies.
